Ariel Goldrozen is the 2015 Co-Chair for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Across Second Life.
Here she tells us her story!
I’ve been in Second Life since a good friend dragged me here about 2008, and I’ve been wandering the grid ever since, meeting new people, making new friends and having fun
When Relay Season was winding down Random asked if I wanted to be involved. I had already been thinking about Strides by that point and agreed to become Co-Lead, knowing the experience would be hugely beneficial. I’m honored to be working in this position for this year’s Strides campaign!
I’ve known a few people who’ve received Breast Cancer diagnoses; one a former co-worker and another my late mother-in-law. Sadly we eventually lost when it spread to her bones and brain after a recurrence. My mother-in-law was in her mid-70’s and chose to have a double mastectomy and survived with no need for chemo or radiation.
My personal mission for Strides is the same as it is for Relay For Life, to help educate and further gain research so no husband, wife, child, parent, or friend has to lose someone to cancer, or hear the words, “You have cancer.” If they do hear those words, I want the very next words to be, “However, we have a successful treatment for that. Together we’ll beat it.”
