A longtime supporter of Relay For Life of Second Life, d’Alliez Estates is a Diamond Sim sponsor for this year’s Blossoms of Hope Showcase.
The Estates are also gracious enough to host the Showcase this year. Estates owner Sue Peregrine took time out of her busy schedule to talk with us.
Question: What lead to your becoming a sponsor this year?
Answer: dAlliez Estates has supported Relay for Life and all of the various events since the very beginning.
Q: Tell us what inspires you.
A: My real life mother. She passed away in 2013 from undiagnosed breast cancer.
Q: How do you keep up with the latest trends in Second Life?
A: Interaction with my staff, renters, other landlords, blog, Linden Lab postings. Anything I can read 🙂
Q: How have any major changes in second life affected your business?
A: The region buy down offer this year has really hurt. Linden Lab had an offer for about 6 months where a region owner could buy it down from newer tier of $295/month to grandfathered tier of $195/month. They are now renting them out for much less than I can, so I have had renters leave. But also have not priced correctly. They’re not accounting for all of the expenses that go into running an estate. I fear many renters will see their homes *poof* overnight if they are not careful.
Q: Any advice to any other budding business owners in second life?
A: Start slow, know your market. Advertise as much as you can.
Q: What is something we can look forward to in 2017 from you?
A: Continued great support for our renters and as lag free as possible regions! I’m also hoping we can recreate the lag free and region crash free Relay we had this year!
