Sponsor Spotlight: Freedom Gear

Our next spotlight is a merchant who excels at helping your reach your individual style. We talked with Freedom Algoma about the inspiration for Freedom Gear.

Question: What lead to your becoming a sponsor this year?
Answer: Breast Cancer is a fear That every woman lives with every day of our lives.  We at Freedom Gear have had several of us that have family members that we have lost to this deadly disease and ones that are still currently putting up a huge fight for their lives against it.  For Freedom it hit at a young age when she lost her Aunt to Breast Cancer and then more recently in the last 5 years with her sister still fighting the battle daily.  Lorcona was hit hard when a family friend also lost both of her breast.  For all of us Just watching our loved ones go through this and seeing how brave they are has been to each of us in our experiences an inspiration.  Freedoms Sister and Lorcona’s family friend never lost their faith and for Freedom’s Sister she is now only 5 years a cancer survivor and Lorcona’s Family friend a blessed 18 years strong.  So from us here at Freedom Gear We dedicate this year to our survivors and the many more that stand out there strong and fight.

Q: Tell us what inspires your creations.
A: Well we won’t lie, we love to shop and wear beautiful things and being able to be a creative part in that is our biggest inspiration.  We each bring our own taste and we tend to bring our real life styles to life with each of our creations.  It is fun to see things come together from the creative minds that flow together.

Q: How do you keep up with the latest trends in Second Life?
A: Well, honestly we don’t…  We just make things up as we go.

Q: How have any major changes in second life affected your business?
A: Freedom Algoma started Freedom Gear with her partner Az Quicksand back when the clothes were mostly Classic Mesh and standard sizes before mesh bodies and appliers became the popular thing. After learning that it was obvious that the mesh bodies were going to take off and to keep up with the latest trends we had to stop major productions on most of our clothes and learn how to work with the new Mesh bodies at the time.  It has taken over a year but we are finally getting back to where we can create more and have moved into working more with these beautiful mesh bodies.  Then in past year with the addition of Lorcona to our team and the other girls we are now starting to be able to produce more and Freedom always says that now coming up with ideas isn’t the hard part anymore its keeping up with the packaging for these ladies ideas lol

Q: Any advice to any other budding business owners in second life?

A: Full Perm One of a Kind Gas Grill for the One of a Kind Silent Auction

Q: Are you participating in the Blossoms of Hope hunt?
A: Yes

Q: What is something we can look forward to in 2017 from you?
A: Lots and Lots More Fabulously Beautiful Stuff.

Q: Is there any you would like to add?
A: I would like to say thank you for allowing us to be a part of this great event. I have cried, shared stories, smiled and most of all been thankful for every moment that I am alive and can wake up every morning to another day cancer free.  The work that is being done here is very important and the more information that gets out to people about early detection and the more help that goes for the cause means there is one more life that is saved or another one that makes it one day longer.  Thank you for all you do and we look forward to seeing everyone come out and support this great cause.
