General Event Guidelines

MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER ACROSS SECOND LIFE FUNDRAISING GUIDELINES

This is an online virtual fundraiser, unlike any others. If there are any questions about these guidelines, please contact Leala Spire or Sandie Loxingly, Co-Leads to discuss. There may be times of special circumstances considering the platform that we are utilizing to fundraise.

Listing Fundraising Events in SL Events

You can use “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer SL” in the title. You should list as much as possible in the event description and official events should always be general or moderate.

Event Standards

Make sure your fundraising events are tasteful. Fundraising events should be held within good moral standing as to represent the American Cancer Society and in accordance with Linden Labs TOS.

All advertising which pertains to the advertisements of events should not have sexually explicit connotations, inappropriate wording or curse words.

Donation Standards

*There are specific standards/guidelines for approved committee ran Making Strides in SL Events. They can be obtained from Leala Spire or Sandie Loxingly*

If an individual would like to donate a portion of their store sales, tips or proceeds to Making Strides in SL, they may advertise that they support Making Strides in SL signage in their establishment or venue and drop any monies they choose into a kiosk.

If you list items to be sold on the Marketplace or other online merchant sites, you should only use language that indicates that you are a Making Strides in SL supporter. Do not list the item as a “Making Strides in SL fundraiser.” Making Strides in SL nor the American Cancer Society are responsible for items sold on the Marketplace or other merchant sites.

Compliance

We cannot SELL anything with the American Cancer Society or the official Making Strides or the Relay For Life logo on it. (Tip: you can give items as a gift in exchange for a donation). Our Second Life (MSABC) theme logo may be used on items that are sold in Making Strides in SL Vendors.

When using the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life, or Making Strides logo, do not change or alter it in any way. This includes in advertisements/textures used as signage.

Gambling and Games of Chance are NOT allowed. (Example: Tringo). You may place a Making Strides Kiosk near a Tringo board or other games and encourage people to donate some or all of their winnings.

Date Auctions

While the American Cancer Society understands that different lifestyle groups exist in and out of SL, we must refrain from associating with “slave” auctions for fundraising events. Date auctions advertised as such are acceptable. If you have an auction event title you want cleared for use, Leala Spire, Making Strides Co-Lead or Sandie Loxingly, Making Strides Co-Lead will be able to help you. Be specific about which communities are participating in your date auction when advertising.

Child Avatars

Private events which contain content rated Adult, must prohibit child avatars altogether (in compliance with Second Life Terms of Service explained here:http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Clarification_of_policy_disallowing_ageplay)
The American Cancer Society reserves the right to deny association with any avatar or fundraising event that does not meet the criteria of our fundraising guidelines.

REZZING GUIDELINES FOR KIOSKS

As long as the kiosks are not rezzed in sexual or porn-related parcels/businesses, you should be fine. Please try to refrain from rezzing them in high-nude populated areas or where sexual pose-balls are present.

There are most likely more acceptable places within the same sim that would be more appropriate. Use your judgment and understand that you are representing the American Cancer Society and Making Strides a world-wide non-profit organization. We are trusting you to make responsible decisions.

If you have an area that you aren’t sure about, we would prefer that you contact us and we will be more than happy to work with you to find a solution that is beneficial to both parties.

ACCEPTABLE CONTENT FOR ADS/FUNDRAISERS

No nudity on ads or at public fundraising events nor at the Making Strides event. No sex acts at fundraisers or events.

If you send out a group notice in official Making Strides group, it will be considered a public event.

Once again – – we are trusting you all to make responsible decisions, and ask that if you have a situation that you think might be questionable, just work with us before-hand so that there are no issues afterward
